Dye Day: MarigoldPosted: July 27, 2012 | Author: Rachel | Filed under: Fibre, Natural Dyeing, Northern Living, Projects | Leave a comment »
I dyed with marigold today. I had quite a bit (182g) of marigold and had 266g of Icelandic mordanted with alum.
The dye bath was quite dark after about 1 1/2 hours of heating the marigold bath. Almost a dark green colour after straining.
I got a really nice saturated yellow though.
I did a second dye bath with the exhaust but didn’t get a picture of that yet. I am quite happy though with my marigold results. Also, it is awesome dyeing with locally grown dyes.
